| Kirk Van Alstyne is a Founder and Managing Partner at Evolution Capital Advisors. Evolution is a boutique investment bank providing capital formation and mergers and acquisition advisory services focused exclusively on the niche of early stage technology companies. The firm has a strong specialty in the cleantech sector, recently advising high profile early stage Northwest firms such as Powerit Solutions (smart grid), M2E Power (energy harvesting), and Novinium (grid reliability) on raising their early institutional (venture capital) rounds of financing.
Prior to Evolution, Mr. Van Alstyne was a Managing Director at Cascadia Capital, where he was Head of the IT Infrastructure Practice and also managed Energy Technology opportunities, and was part of the initial team that oversaw firm development from its early formation to a national operation. Prior to Cascadia Capital, Mr. Van Alstyne founded and operated Venture Intelligence, a strategy consulting practice aimed at emerging growth firms, advising technology start-ups in the energy, internet, wireless, and software sectors. Previously, Mr. Van Alstyne held positions in sales and engineering for a multi-national manufacturing firm. Mr. Van Alstyne holds a B.S. with Highest Honors in Chemical Engineering from Montana State University and an M.B.A. from the University of Washington, with a focus on Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
